Autumn Programme begins!
Saturday 02 September 2023
10:00 to 12:00
This week’s actions
This weekend, depending on numbers, we’ll prioritise:
-
Regular litter picking - of course!
-
Ground profiling in/around our newly dug seasonal pond (hand digging is a great core-strength work-out!)
-
Bring in previously cut oak logs from on site to form “structural habitat” features, informal seating and to reinforce the “dam” between the new pond and existing ditch.
-
Start the grassland management (strimming!) – the first positive management attention this site’s grassland has had in decades – the first section of the “mosaic cut and remove” of around 50% of our long grassland.
-
Begin to build “dead-hedge” or brushwood barriers to guide people (and dogs) past.
-
Scarify (rough-up with a rake) some localised patches and scatter some Mouse Ear Hawkweed seed
WHEN: From 10am SATURDAY (12th August) until around midday.
