Hampton Heath Winter Pond 2024-02-25

Spring on the Heath

Saturday 02 March 2024
10:00 to 12:00

For all those who are fit, able and willing, let’s keep Hampton Heath Friends moving into Spring!

This week (depending on numbers) we can look at:

  • Grassland mosaic cutting: We’re really close to achieving our goal to cut, rake and remove 50% of our precious “Lowland Acid Grassland” (LAG) habitat.

  • Bramble Reduction: Continuing to open up visibility along the Tennis Court Path towards David Lloyd.

  • Litter-picking: As always!

  • Practice Range Pond - Grassland: Strimming, rake and remove the grassland we reclaimed from the mowers behind the Practice Range Pond. Those who were working around the pond last year will know where I mean… but this area needs care/ consideration -  to get to/from this area means passing the practice range which is likely to be in use.

WHEN: From 10am SATURDAY 2nd MARCH until around midday. Over to David Lloyd for free tea/coffee at around 12.

WHERE: Meet at the goal post, rear of David Lloyd as usual.  Map

WHO: Anyone and everyone is welcome. As always, please bring your own protective gloves, sensible footwear, drinking water etc. and under 18s must be accompanied.

WHAT: We can provide litter-pickers/bags, hedge trimmer, strimmer, rakes and brush cutter as always, BUT I currently have no way to get these to and from site. Any offers? If you have your own secateurs, rake, strimmer or hedge-trimmer (battery), please do bring them along.
